Law of Attraction and Intuition’s Role

In this post Laurie came to me looking for clarification on manifesting and intuition. Also, she notes that she and her friend have different perspectives on how the law of attraction works. Lets see what she has to say, and how I respond. My response comes after her letter.

Hi Ezra,

I have a couple questions that I thought you might like to write an article on. They are kind of lengthy, but I’m going to write them anyways and you can use them as you may.

#1, What is the difference between “knowing, (gut feeling) and manifesting?. Example: I knew my car was about to go downhill. My friend (who is into loa) says I brought on my car troubles by thinking about it. Ok, she’s right, but I just knew it was going to start. Before my car started costing me lots of $$$, I focused and visualized about me buying an SUV. I saw myself driving it, I could smell it, I felt it, I saw me looking at my kids in the backseat and us laughing and me walking towards my SUV. For months I did this. I would smile when I walked past an SUV that I really liked.

Ok, car starts to act bad, I know it’s time. I’m not in a rush as my father lent me his car. One Saturday I had this strong urge to go to the “H” dealership. Just this strong urge. I pick my daughter up from work, I’m in my grubby clothes as I’m cleaning my house and we go to “H’ car dealership. I “saw” a small, dark blue car.

Ok, we go, I see a year old car that is dark blue. Wow, that is my car. (I think to myself) I drive it, it feels good, but something isn’t there. I drove an SUV, and another vehicle. I liked the car the best. I’ll think about it and be back in 2 weeks when I have time off work.

In the meantime, my dads friend calls me. He has a 1 yr old car 1/2 price from “C” dealership. I drive it. I liked it better than my dark blue “H” car. I decide to buy this one. I drive down to make financial arrangements the next day. But I just can’t do it. It doesn’t feel right. So I drive back to “H’ dealership. I say to my guy “you have to offer me better than “c” dealership.” He fiddles around with numbers so I get up and look around. In the showroom is a small dark grey car, brand new. I get in the car, it feels nice. I test drive another color car, the same model and year, and I enjoy driving it the most. THAT is the car I felt driving. I purchase it. But there is a teeny, weenie piece missing. And I can’t put my finger on it. But I don’t fret about it, I trust that this is the car for me.

I go pick up the car a few days later and my car is outside. It is dark grey, but you know what color that car is outside? It’s dark blue. That is the car I “saw” myself driving. Once I saw my car outside, I had such a good feeling.

My questions: First of all, I wanted to buy an SUV, but one day “saw” myself driving this little, tiny blue car. How if I wanted and visualized this SUV did my inner being tell me to buy a tiny blue car? (did it know of the impending gas prices? lol)

Secondly, my loa friend says I brought on my old car falling apart by thinking about it. I just had a feeling my car was going to start costing me money. I visualized my car working great, having heat, running well, thanking the Universe for my great car, and it being a safe car. My car still fell apart on me. Can you explain if I visualized it working well, and thanked the Universe everyday for such a great older car, why it still died on me?

Now, change of subject. On PI, one of the founders talks a lot about “letting go” If you are upset about something, she always says get to the point where you don’t care if you have it or not. How come some loa explainers (is explainers a word? lol) ((and I don’t say teachers because we are our own teachers–your words!!!)) say to let go, others say to focus and visualize?

My loa friend and I have different believes in loa. I am of the belief that you follow what feels right, and trust yourself listen to your gut and know that all is well. She says you need to put your order in and focus on it and visualize it and it will happen. Neither of us are wrong, we are both right. It’s just 2 different prospectives isn’t that so?

I have more, but I will write more later….thanks, Ezra.

Laurie

EZRA’S RESPONSE:

Laurie,

Thanks for your wonderful questions. Many people have these same questions too, and I’ll be glad to help you out.

Laurie says,”#1, What is the difference between “knowing, (gut feeling) and manifesting?. I would smile when I walked past an SUV that I really liked.”

My answer: The fact that on this particular day you felt your car wasn’t going to work did not necessarily mean you manifested it breaking down. That was simply your intuition that day letting you know something was about to take place. Your gut was letting you know your car was about to cost you a lot of money, and it’s time to move on. (Because you were close to manifesting a life change). A person’s intuition is their guidance system, often referred to as inner-being or spirit guide. When something significant is about to take place it will guide you to either a positive manifestation or out of harm’s way. You may also find my article Intuition and Manifesting very helpful on this.

Laurie says, “first of all, I wanted to buy an SUV, but one day “saw” myself driving this little, tiny blue car. How if I wanted and visualized this SUV did my inner being tell me to buy a tiny blue car? (did it know of the impending gas prices? Lol)”

My answer: Law of Attraction is all about vibration. In the end what manifests into physical form is simply the vibration. The visualizations a person practices helps them to change their overall vibration. Your inner being just wanted you to be happy, and it sounds like you are happy with what you are in right now. And yes, you are probably better off because of gas prices. (Which are expected to keep getting higher into the fall). Your inner-being is always about making you your happiest self in the quickest fashion. If more people just listened to it like you are able to, then they would find themselves happier faster. Since you utilized your vision, but didn’t cling to it totally, you were able to manifest a desirable result for yourself when the opportunity came knocking. Good for you!

You see, there is nothing wrong with having a vision for yourself and holding it in your mind all the time. Actually, it’s the best thing you can do. However, deep within you dwells you inner-being and its TRUE desires. It might not exactly match what your egoist mind is asking for. However ,if they resonate closely enough you will oftentimes get the result that you had with your car experience. Not an exact match, but a happy ending none the less. Your inner-being will always override what the egoist mind is asking for and will eventually lead a person to an extremely good outcome if listened to. I call the inner-being by many name: intuition; Source; God; spirit guides.

Laurie says, “secondly, my loa friend says I brought on my old car falling apart by thinking about it. I just had a feeling my car was going to start costing me money. I visualized my car working great, having heat, running well, thanking the Universe for my great car, and it being a safe car. My car still fell apart on me. Can you explain if I visualized it working well, and thanked the Universe everyday for such a great older car, why it still died on me?”

My answer: Your car is actually a formless energy that has extended itself onto the physical plane through you. Now with this being the case the car you were visualizing so much is actually the new car you’re in now. It’s taken on a different form, but it’s still the same car. All of your visualizations paid off in the end.

The feeling you got about your car costing you money was simply your intuition letting you know something important before it took place. You were at a vibrational crossroads, and you chose the right path because you listened! Listening to your own inner-being is very important and you have to let it supersede everything you know, because intuition won’t come to you in a pointblank fashion. It will just be a knowing. Sometimes it will seem like you aren’t following the Law of Attraction properly or even doing things the way Abraham-Hicks says to do things, but if you follow through, you will be rewarded. You must always put yourself above any master, teacher or past conditioning that tells you anything that doesn’t resonate with you. You came from the same place they all did. Believe in yourself! Always follow your truth in your life.

Your friend might be trying to help you with LOA but you are made up of a field energy that can only utilize what feels right and makes sense to you at any given moment. There is no possible way you can utilize advice from someone if it doesn’t feel right or make sense to you. If you’re not resonating with it, then you will either poorly implement what they are saying or just not be able to do it at all. So, in the meantime stick to what resonates with you. The Ultimate Teacher is within all of us.

Laurie says, “now, change of subject. On PI, one of the founders talks allot about “letting go” If you are upset about something, she always says get to the point where you don’t care if you have it or not. How come some loa explainers (is explainers a word? lol) ((and I don’t say teachers because we are our own teachers–your words!!!)) say to let go, others say to focus and visualize?”

My answer: When a person can truly focus and visualize they can naturally let go. Your brain doesn’t know any difference between what it is imagining and what it experiences as reality. When a person becomes good at focusing he will automatically have what he wants in his mind and be satisfied. Once this happens, a very natural and HEALTHY detachment takes place. A person cannot manifest on PURPOSE if they can’t focus. Anything without focus means, to be tossed around in the wind. Focus is easy to have. And if you have trouble with it, than I recommend you focus on the Law of Attraction process being easy so it will be easier for you. Remember the Law of Attraction governs your complete reality. If you in your heart believe it to be a hard process. It will become that for you. If you believe it to be complicated. It will be that for you.

Laurie says, “my loa friend and I have different beliefs on loa. I am of the belief that you follow what feels right, and trust yourself listen to your gut and know that all is well. She says you need to put your order in and focus on it and visualize it and it will happen. Neither of us are wrong, we are both right. It’s just 2 different prospectives isn’t that so?”

My answer: You’re right, it’s just a different perspective and Law of Attraction makes EVERYONE right. Anyone who might try to tell you you’re wrong doesn’t quite get the capacity of Law of Attraction and its ability to make two completely different people right.

However, for fun I will give my perspective on this. Your guy’s ideas on LOA are seemingly different from a glance. If looked at it from an egoistic standpoint, many things in life look very different, though you choose to do what feels right and know all is well, you are still focusing. It’s broader and more general than simple focusing on one thing after another, but it’s still focusing nonetheless. You are focusing, because the mind, in all actuality, is ALWAYS focused in one direction or another. It is always moving through time and space whether or not the focus is on purpose, it is still going in a direction. It’s like headlights on a car. Those lights are always pointed in the direction the car is going.

Your friend is focusing, but what she might not know is that what she is looking at doesn’t matter because she is pulsating a vibration that resonates with whatever it is she is focusing upon. The vibration will eventually come back to her not only in the form of what she was focusing upon, but in a wide range of things. Hopefully, if she is able to utilize some of your ways she’ll be able to have good outcomes like you did by trusting her inner-being. Because what she is focusing on isn’t just attracting that - it’s attracting everything else that can bring that feeling.

So, let’s say she was focusing on a new car. She would not only set into motion a manifestation for a new car, but also anything else that would bring her the feeling of a new car. It might be a new house, boat, or extra money. Whatever is a vibrational match to what she is pulsating will come her way. She would have to be able to trust her gut in order to know when it’s coming her way, however.

As for yourself, consider focusing like a workout for your mind. You eventually won’t just give into every whim, however you will get to the deeper things that bring you great joy. You might not want to focus on anything but the feeling of happiness, and in doing so all kinds of happiness will follow. (Though we could say you’re pretty much already doing that. I just wanted to point it out to you).

All in all, both of you have got the right idea in your approach to law of attraction. You’re better off always telling yourselves your going down the right path and you will thus manifest for yourself. (That was a very key thing I just said there!) Law of Attraction helps us live out our own truths, and sometimes observing another’s helps us get more clear on ourselves and what we want. Deeply accept that each of you are enlightened beings and knows what it is doing, because that is a divine truth.
